YouTuber permanently banned after crashing an expensive car while streaming

Popular YouTuber and Kick streamer Jack Doherty made the news this weekend after crashing his expensive sports car into a guardrail. The crash happened during a live stream on Kick and he has been permanently banned from the platform.

On October 5, 21-year-old Doherty crashed his customized (and very expensive) McLaren 570S while livestreaming. Video footage shared online shows the content creator with more than 1 million YouTube subscribers checking and using his phone moments before the crash. The sidewalk Doherty was riding on was also wet from rain, which likely contributed to him spinning out of control and crashing into a guardrail on the right side of the highway, barely avoiding other cars on the road. Now, NBC reports that Kick has permanently banned the creator.

On October 6 NBC reported that a Kick spokesperson confirmed that the streaming service –which is a rival to Amazon-owned Twitch– had Doherty banned because of his behavior, and added Stairs “does not condone illegal activity, which is why we took swift action to ban this creator from the platform.”

If you check Kick, Doherty’s page has been removed and now you see a 404 error when you visit.

After the video of the crash spread online, many criticized the streamer for his reckless behavior and how focused he was on the content. In a video released by Doherty shortly after the crash you see him screaming for help as people come to his aid. As the door opens, he pushes a camera into the hands of one of the people trying to help him and asks, “Can you hold this?” On another point, shortly after vandalizing his carDoherty hands his phone to his passenger, who is bleeding profusely from his head, and asks him to record what is happening.

Doherty purchased the now totaled McClaren 570S in June 2023 for over $200,000. In that video he says he is “going to crash this car, mark my words.”

This isn’t the first time Doherty has gotten in trouble for crashing a vehicle. As reported by NBCiIn March, Doherty admitted herself overturning an all-terrain vehicle and injuring his arm. In November 2023he crashed a golf cart his girlfriend was riding in and later apologized.
