Trae Young has been compared and contrasted with Steph Curry for years, but behind closed doors the two have mutual respect for each other.

Young was recently a guest on an episode of “Podcast P with Paul George,” where he went into great detail about his relationship with Curry, even revealing a moment when Curry reached out to him after the Atlanta Hawks star was linked to various transfer rumors.

“He doesn’t always hit me. Every now and then he’ll tag in and touch the bases,” Young said. “But I remember the first time I was ever on the trading block, it was right before a play-in game, I think it was two years ago, and he texted me and told me to stay focused and keep my head in the game.

“So he will drop some knowledge and give me some advice as a supporter every now and then. He has always been helpful.”

Young also admitted that he has known Curry’s trainer, Brandon Payne, for years and that the two star players have trained together many times.

Like Curry, Young is “that guy” on the Hawks’ roster. Despite averaging 25.5 points and 9.5 assists in his six-year career in Atlanta, the team hasn’t made much of a push to make the playoffs, aside from a narrow loss in the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals.

A three-time NBA All-Star and one of the best 3-point shooters in the sport, Young has been linked to potential deals with several teams in recent years, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.

While many suspect Young’s career in Atlanta is hanging by a thread, he knows who to approach if the situation gets too intense.
