‘Young and hungry’: Manchester United sign striker Celin Bizet from Spurs | Women’s Super League

Manchester United have signed Norwegian striker Celin Bizet from Tottenham on a three-year deal. The fee has not been disclosed, but United are said to have met her release clause, which is reported to be around £60,000.

Bizet travelled to Marbella with the rest of the United squad for their warm-weather pre-season training camp on Tuesday after passing a medical on Sunday. The 22-year-old spent two seasons at Spurs after playing for Paris Saint-Germain. She scored four goals in 20 games in the Women’s Super League last season.

Bizet, who has 21 caps for Norway, said: “I am very excited to take this next step in my career and sign for such a great club as Manchester United. I can’t wait to put on the famous red shirt and create winning moments for these great fans.”

She is United’s sixth summer signing, following Canadian midfielder Simi Awujo, Dutch defender Dominique Janssen, French forward Melvine Malard, another Norwegian striker, Elisabeth Terland, and Swedish full-back Anna Sandberg. The club are believed to be looking for a goalkeeper to replace Mary Earps.

For Tottenham, the sale of Bizet follows the arrival of Australian winger Hayley Raso after her contract with Real Madrid expired.

United head coach Marc Skinner said: “Celin is an exciting, talented young player with loads of potential. She fits right in with where we want to be as a team – we want young, hungry players who can really make a difference.”
