You can now filter Steam reviews to show those who ‘mostly played on Steam Deck’

Valve has its own rating system to measure how well games run on Steam Deck, but even when I follow the guidelines for whether something is “playable” or “verified,” I still run into games that simply won’t work on the portable device.

Enter Steam Reviews. Reviews from players who primarily played on Steam Deck now have a small Deck icon. Hovering over it will show you exactly how much time you spent on the Deck.

Steam users can also filter these reviews by clicking the “Play Time” dropdown at the top of the reviews section and selecting “Most Played on Steam Deck.”

This is a relatively small change, but oh, is it useful. I play a lot of games on Steam, given my career, and it makes a huge difference knowing ahead of time whether something will run comfortably on the Deck or whether I’ll have to spend 60+ hours hunched over my desktop every week.

Valve has been making a handful of adjustments to Steam user reviews lately. Earlier this month, they moved to deprioritize user reviews that were extremely short or contained ASCII art, on the grounds that while these reviews may be funny (or “funny”), they aren’t helpful to those making purchasing decisions.

You can always skip the user reviews and read ours, mind you. We sometimes review games on Steam Deck and always note when we do (most recently The Crimson Diamond ), and James is constantly testing games on the device for Steam Deck Academy. Check out his picks for the best Steam Deck games.
