Xcel Energy’s Days of Caring raises more than $250,000 for nonprofits

UNDATED (WJON news) — An annual fundraising event has raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for nonprofits. Xcel Energy’s 14th annual Days of Caring took place September 13 and 14 and 7,900 volunteers helped raise $260,000 in economic impact.

The volunteers took part in 125 projects ranging from packing meals to building houses, clearing paths and planting trees. Bob Frenzel, CEO of Xcel Energy, says volunteers come together year after year to take the time to make an impact in their community.

Minnesota and the Dakotas had more than 900 volunteers who spent 3,000 hours with an economic impact of nearly $100,000. Xcel Energy serves the states of Minnesota, North & South Dakota, Wisconsin, Colorado, Michigan, Texas and New Mexico.
