WWE star appears to be mentoring AEW star

AEW star Konosuke Takeshita, who is competing in the NJPW G1 Climax 34 tournament, has announced that WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura will be his mentor.

AEW star Konosuke Takeshita proved to be a force to be reckoned with during his participation in this year’s NJPW G1 Climax 34 tournament.

The Don Callis family member is currently 3-1 in the tournament with wins over Yota Tsuji, NEVER Openweight Champion HENARE and NJPW World Television Champion Jeff Cobb.

After his victory over HENARE, NJPW cameras have caught up with Takeshita, where he teased that his mentor is former NJPW star and current WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura. He said:

“I have a mentor in America. That mentor entrusted me with running the wrestling world, entrusted me with Strong Style. Who is my mentor? I can’t tell you yet. YeaOh!”

“YeaOh!” was Nakamura’s catchphrase during his long career with New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2002 to 2016.

Konosuke Takeshita will face IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay of the Bullet Club War Dogs on Wednesday, July 31 at the G1 Climax 34 Day 8 event.
