WTA Hong Kong Open 2024 draw headlined by Shnaider, Fernandez, Boulter and return of Simona Halep

As the WTA season nears its end, the Hong Kong Open will conclude proceedings, with the WTA 250 being the final action before the WTA Finals. The draw has now been set.

Leylah Fernandez is the defending champion in Hong Kong and returned to form around this time last year. She will face Heather Watson in the opening round, and Ana Bogdan or Kimberly Birrell in the second round.

Diana Shnaider is the top seed and will face a qualifier in the first round. She lost to Qinwen Zheng in the semifinals of the Pan Pacific Open. Priscilla Hon could wait in the second round. Katie Boulter is the second seed and also lost in the semi-finals in Tokyo. She could face Wang Xiyu in the second round.

Simona Halep will also return to WTA main draw action for the first time since Miami earlier this season. She played the WTA 125 in Hong Kong last month. She opens up to Yue Yuan. Sofia Kenin, who will play Qinwen Zheng in Tokyo in that final, will also make the trip to Hong Kong. She faces Jessika Ponchet or Wang Xinyu.
