Woman falsely reported sexual assault at Lebanon Hills Regional Park – Twin Cities

A woman has been charged with falsely reporting a crime about a sexual assault at Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan.

After “an extensive investigation, we can report that the attack never occurred,” police said in a statement Tuesday, adding that the woman told police “her claims were false.”

A misdemeanor summons was sent to the 27-year-old Rosemount woman, according to a court report Friday.

The woman reported that she had parked at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center and been walking on nearby trails around 11 a.m. on Nov. 7 when a man sexually assaulted her, police said earlier by notifying the public and encouraging people not to travel alone while using the park system.

“We know the impact this has had on many over the past few weeks and would like to thank our community for their increased vigilance, patience and support as we investigated this case,” Eagan police said in the statement Tuesday.

Police said they continue to investigate the report of a physical assault on another woman around 4:30 p.m. on September 7 in Lebanon Hills. She parked in the Jensen Lake Trailhead lot and walked the nearby trails. Police said she was able to escape her attacker.

“In an effort to promote public safety, we continue to ask the public to be aware of your surroundings, look out for each other and to report suspicious people or vehicles,” Tuesday’s police statement said.
