Woman dies at the scene of a golf club crash as police search for witnesses

A woman has died in a three-car crash near a golf club in Ayrshire, while a man was also seriously injured.

The 72-year-old driver was driving a blue Volkswagen Golf when it was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Corsa and a green Land Rover Discovery.

The incident happened on the A71 in Galston, at around 5.25pm ​​on Saturday.

Emergency services arrived at the scene at Loudon Golf Club and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old man, the driver of the Corsa, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. His condition is described as serious but stable.

No one was injured and the road was closed before reopening around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police are now appealing for information to help establish the full circumstances.

Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased woman and inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch. And if you have any dashcam footage that could assist our investigation, please contact officers.”
