Wins and podiums for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport in Ohio

With three series in action last weekend, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport descended on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with high goals. The team left the weekend with at least one win in three different series, including five in total, and achieved a podium finish in FR Americas, pole positions, fast laps and more, as did Ryan Shehan (FR Americas) and Kekai Hauanio (Ligier JSF4). ) led the way on the results sheet.

FR America

The weekend started with eight drivers and Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport dropped to seven after Titus Sherlock’s crash forced him to withdraw from the weekend. If the event went to plan, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport would place four drivers in the top five of FR Americas qualifying, including a front row lockout with Patrick Woods-Toth and Ryan Shehan. Jett Bowling and Nicole Havrda recorded the fourth and fifth fastest laps of the session, with Ricco Shlaimoun, Kevin Janzen and Landan Matriano Lim in seventh, tenth and eleventh.

With just two races into the weekend, Shehan would quickly become the driver to beat as his double win earned him enough points to single-handedly take the championship lead. In a Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport podium sweep in race one, Shehan led Woods-Toth and Bowling across the finish line for a 1 – 2 – 3 finish. With three drivers on the podium, the Texas-based program placed all seven drivers in the top ten, with Havrda in sixth place, Matriano Lim in seventh, Shlaimoun in eighth and Kevin Janzen in P10.

Shehan made it two from two on the weekend, taking his second race win while Woods-Toth added his second podium result, finishing third. Bowling confirmed his podium result on Saturday with a top-five finish on Sunday, when he narrowly beat Crosslink Kiwi teammate Havrda, who finished sixth. Shlaimoun equaled his result from the day before in eighth position, with Janzen doing the same in tenth, just ahead of Matriano Lim.

F4 US

With a strong performance in the FR Americas program, F4 United States trio Nicolas Stati, Alex Crosbie and Barrett Wolfe achieved one pole position, one win, three podiums and five top-five finishes this weekend. Stati led the way with outright pole position in qualifying and turned that into a victory in the first race. Stati added a P2 finish on Sunday when he flexed his muscles this weekend. Kiwi Alex Crosbie achieved the team’s next best results with a P3 qualifying performance and a podium result in the first of two races. Crosbie kept his machine in the top five, adding a fourth-place finish on Sunday to his third-place finish on Saturday. Barrett Wolfe struggled in qualifying as he was dropped to seventh at the end of the session, but he moved ahead in the first wheel-to-wheel race. Wolfe finished fourth in race one and finished seventh in race two.

Ligier JS F4 series

Two more wins came from the Ligier JSF4 program as they were set to compete in three races this weekend. Kekai Hauanio took pole position in qualifying and took three podium finishes, including wins in the second and third races, along with his second-place finish in the first race. Bacon Zelenka and Brad Majman both claimed podium finishes this weekend, with Zelenka’s best result being third in the first race, en route to a trio of top-five finishes. Majman made progress throughout the weekend, finishing seventh in race one and sixth in race two. He found his way to the podium in race three, finishing third. Demitri Nolan continued his development in open wheel racing with a solid qualifying effort in ninth place and one top ten finish in race two.

“It’s a big program and there’s a lot to do, but if you get great results it’s all worth it,” Teena Larsen explains. “Five wins and thirteen podiums, with at least one win in each series, a few pole positions and a podium finish. On to the next.”

Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport will be back on the track in just over a month at New Jersey Motorsports Park during the weekend of July 25-28.
