Winners and losers of the first half of the 2024 MLS season

The European Championship and Copa America are over, but Major League Soccer has only just begun. The league played flawlessly in both tournaments and is approaching the traditional mid-season All-Star break.

MLS has one of the longest seasons in American sports, starting in February and running until mid-December.

This All-Star break marks the halfway point of the season and provides a perfect opportunity to discuss the competition’s biggest winners and losers:

Winner

FC Cincinnati. After winning the Supporters Shield last season, FC Cincinnati has gone from strength to strength, investing in its key attackers and signing some brilliant midfielders and defenders to keep the good play going.

Led by Argentine striker Lucho Acosta, the league leader in assists and key passes, Cincy is the best performing team in MLS and looks set to challenge Messi’s Inter Miami for top spot in the playoffs.
