Wimbledon: Emma Raducanu on why she ‘couldn’t say no’ to playing mixed doubles with Andy Murray

Andy Murray will headline Wimbledon on Thursday as he and his brother Jamie begin their men’s doubles career. The event is scheduled for the fourth day of the championship.

Murray, who plays the final on Centre Court today, is beginning his Wimbledon swansong after surgery to remove a cyst in his spine last month. He withdrew from the men’s singles event on Tuesday, opting to focus on the doubles event, where he will also partner Emma Raducanu in the mixed event. The Murrays will face Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers, while five other British players will play on the two main show courts.

Jacob Fearnley will also get his chance on Centre Court, where he will first face Novak Djokovic.

While Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart face off in the second round of the women’s singles, Jack Draper’s reward for his thrilling victory over Elias Ymer is a second round draw with fellow countryman Cameron Norrie.
