Will Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese Play at the WNBA All-Stars Game?

The WNBA decided to revamp the format of its All-Star Game with the 2024 Paris Olympics in mind, as in the 2021 season for the Tokyo edition, and the best players in the competition against the American basketball team on July 20 at the Footprint Center.

With this in mind, the league has announced the players who will participate in the All-Star Game, and Rookie Caitlin Clark was selected after receiving the most fan votes (700,735). The Indiana Fever point guard leads freshmen in points per game (16.2), assists per game (6.9) and three-pointers made (56).

In addition to Clark, the WNBA team will consist of: DeWanna Bonner (Connecticut Sun), Aliyah Boston (Indiana fever), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Darling Hamby (Los Angeles Sparks), Brionna Jones (Connecticut Sun), Jonquel Jones (New York Freedom), Kayla McBride (Lynx from Minnesota), Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana fever), Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings), Nneka Ogwumike (Seattle Storm) and Angel Reese (Chicago Sky).

The United States women’s basketball team consists of 12 WNBA players who will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics, seeking their eighth consecutive gold medal. The chosen ones are Napheesa necklace (Lynx from Minnesota), Kahleah Copper (Phoenix Mercury), Chelsea Grey (Las Vegas Aces), Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury), Sabrina Ionescu (New York Freedom), Jewel Loyd (Storm in Seattle), Kelsey Plum (The Vegas Aces), Breanna Stewart (New York Freedom), Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury), Alyssa Thomas (Connecticut Sun), A’Ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) and Jackie Jong (Las Vegas Aces).

How are the WNBA All-Stars chosen?

The All-Star selections were determined by a combination of fan votes (50%), WNBA player votes (25%), and votes from basketball media (25%). In the fan voting portion, Indiana teammate Clark received 700,735 votes, and Boston received 618,680first and second respectively. The top five in the fan vote was rounded out by Wilson (607,300), Stewart (424,135)And Reese (381,518).

Starters for the 2024 AT&T WNBA All-Star will be determined by the respective head coaches of Team WNBA and the USA Basketball Women’s National Team. If a USA Basketball Women’s National Team player is unable to participate in the 2024 AT&T WNBA All-Star, USA Basketball will select an alternate. If a WNBA team member is unable to play, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert will appoint a replacement.
