Why Tiger Woods is going to Michigan…to watch golf

Next week, the legendary Tiger Woods will make a special trip to Michigan, but this time it won’t be to show off his own incredible golfing skills. Instead, he’ll be there to support his rising star son, Charlie Woods, as he competes in the prestigious 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur at the iconic Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills.

Charlie Woods, 15, is already making quite a name for himself in the golf world. He is set to tee off in the 256-player field that will play July 22-27. His father won the prestigious tournament three times in a row from 1991-93, and now it’s Chalie’s turn to shine.

Charlie Woods secured a spot in the U.S. Junior Amateur tournament with a 71-under-par during a qualifying event at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Florida. Of course, there will be spectators on hand to watch the young Woods show off his amazing skills as he competes for his first major title, but there will be more fans cheering him on.

The Golf Channel reported during “Live From The Open” that Tiger Woods is headed to Michigan to watch his son play. Reports say Tiger will fly to Michigan after he finishes The Open Championship in Scotland.

Tiger will just be a parent on the sidelines watching the tournament at OHCC and probably pretty stressed out too. If Charlie wins the US Junior Amateur title, he’ll get a spot in the 2025 US Open field. Not bad.
