Why this VERY angry woman threw herself at an Australian football fan in the stands when he became public enemy number 1 and the crowd booed him

  • Socceroos suffered a heavy defeat on the Gold Coast
  • A young fan decided to have a little fun
  • What happened next angered many football fans

A football fan’s attempt to do the right thing has backfired spectacularly during a Socceroos match on the Gold Coast.

The Socceroos themselves were a huge disappointment, losing 1-0 to Bahrain in a surprise result that will have major implications for their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

As the football on the field became increasingly gloomy, one young fan thought he might be able to have a little fun.

He jumped the sideline fence and ran onto the field, eluding the pursuing guards and jumped another fence, landing in the crowd – much to their delight.

However, he soon hit a wall in the form of a Socceroos fan who took it upon himself to stop the young invader.

Boos were heard at the man in a flannel shirt as he held the shocked teenager until police could take him into custody.

Although sports ground offenders in Queensland can face lengthy stadium bans and fines of up to $10,000, most believed the teenager’s act was simply innocent.

And instead of applauding the so-called Good Samaritan, they turned against him.

“The guy in the flannel shirt is the kid who reminded the teachers to give homework to the class,” someone posted.

“The police should have escorted the man in the flannel shirt out,” another fumed.

“Flannel shirt was definitely the tell-tale sign in class. Pathetic guy,” another noted,

“The man in the flannel shirt betrayed our national anti-snitch policy,” posted one football fan.

“This didn’t go the way the flannel shirt guy thought! In his head he was supposed to be a hero,” added another.

“Even the police thought he did it wrong,” another noted.

Viewers of the video, which has now been viewed more than 27 million times, also applauded a woman in the stands who reprimanded the man in the flannel shirt for his actions.

She stormed from her seat, beer in hand, to fire a powerful blast at the shocked Socceroos fan.

“I love when the mom yells ‘how dare you?’ at the man in the flannel shirt,” one viewer posted.

“That lady with the beer who’s trashing that flannel shirt guy,” laughed another.

“Oh, the lady gave it to him and at the end she said, how dare you,” added another.

Although most people opposed the actions of the man in the flannel shirt, he did receive some support.

“Why does everyone hate him? He just wanted to watch the game?” asked one viewer.

“People hate him because he did the right thing?” asked another.

“I don’t hate the flannel shirt, man.”

Queensland Police have been approached for comment.
