Who is Hope Solo’s Husband? All About Jerramy Stevens

Former American soccer star Hope Solo and her husband, former NFL player Jerramy Stevens, have been in the news for over 10 years.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist and Stevens first met as student-athletes at the University of Washington and married in 2012, just one day after Stevens was arrested on suspicion of assaulting Solo.

Since then, Stevens and Solo have had two children and have remained faithful to each other through legal troubles, Solo’s forced retirement in 2016 and the goalkeeper’s stint in an alcohol treatment facility in 2022.

Most recently, in 2023, Stevens supported Solo when she was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Now, Solo’s soccer success, turbulent personal life, and public challenges are the subject of Netflix’s Untold: Hope Solo vs. U.S. Soccerwhich can be streamed from September 3.

Stevens was born in Idaho in 1979

Stevens was born in 1979 to Bob and Fran Stevens in Boise, Idaho, and grew up in Lacey, Washington. He attended River Ridge High School and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track.

He played in the NFL

Stevens played football at the University of Washington and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks as their first-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft. He remained with the team until 2007, when he moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He played in Super Bowl XL in 2006, which the Seahawks lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a year after becoming a regular starter at tight end for the team.

They first met at university

Stevens and Solo both attended the University of Washington from 1999 to 2001. They first met in high school and dated briefly in the 2000s, before going on a year-long hiatus in 2011.

Solo told She in 2019 that Stevens had confessed his love for her at a dinner that year. “I didn’t know what to say,” she explained. “So I said, ‘F— you,’ and we didn’t speak for a year.”

A year after the dinner where Stevens and Solo stopped talking, the couple reconciled. They dated for two months and married on November 13, 2012.

Their marriage was not without controversy, however, as Stevens was arrested the day before the wedding on suspicion of assaulting Solo. However, there was not enough evidence to charge him. According to court documents, Stevens and Solo had a falling out over whether to get married in Florida or Washington state.

In January 2013, Solo said at a press conference: “It’s been a crazy year, as always — the story of my life — but it’s been an amazing year. Right now, I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my personal life. I’m happily married. Yes, there are a lot of ups and downs, but that’s what makes us strong: getting through them all.”

He has supported Solo through controversies

In addition to their pre-wedding domestic dispute, Solo and Stevens have both gotten into trouble. In June 2014, domestic violence charges were filed against the professional soccer star after she was arrested on charges of hitting her sister and nephew during a family gathering.

Solo pleaded not guilty but publicly apologized for the incident, writing on Facebook: “I want to apologize to my fans, teammates, coaches, marketing partners and the entire US Soccer and Seattle Reign FC community for my involvement in a very unfortunate incident this past weekend.”

The case was later dropped in January 2015 after victims and witnesses in the case refused to cooperate. Later that month, Stevens was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in California. According to the Los Angeles TimesHe pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and four years’ probation.

In 2016, Solo was suspended by the U.S. Soccer Federation and forced to retire after making negative comments about the Swedish women’s soccer team. The couple was living in Seattle at the time — where Solo played for the Seattle Reign — and decided to travel across the country in an RV to North Carolina, where they lived for a year.

The couple announced they were expecting twins in December 2019, and welcomed son Vittorio Genghis and daughter Lozen Orianna Judith on March 4, 2020. Solo announced the births on Instagram with photos of Vittorio and Lozen side by side. Two years earlier, Solo had suffered a miscarriage, also with twins.

In March 2021, she celebrated their first anniversary with a few family photos, saying, “Two days ago we celebrated Lozen and Vittorio’s first anniversary! .. We feel the love, they feel the love, and every day has been as tiring as it has been rewarding.”

Just a few months later, Solo celebrated Father’s Day by sharing a photo of Stevens holding their children with the caption, “I could never have picked a better father for our children. Happy Father’s Day!”
