When Miami-Dade and Broward will release first election results – NBC 6 South Florida

For those looking for their first glimpse of how South Florida votes, this is when Miami-Dade and Broward will share election results.

Miami Dade

Miami-Dade’s elections department will release the first results at 7:15 p.m. EST — 45 minutes before the Florida Secretary of State is set to release statewide data on his website. (The state is waiting until polls close at 7 p.m. Central Time in the Panhandle.)

Miami-Dade County will first release the totals of early in-person votes and mail-in ballots received before today — which together include 880,630 votes. That will be a very revealing group: 57 percent of all active eligible voters in a county where turnout in a 2020 presidential race peaked at 75 percent.

Thirty minutes after the initial release of results, the first precinct reports will be added to the totals, and the plan is to update the voting day every 30 minutes thereafter, with the final batch consisting of mail-in ballots delivered today. before 7 p.m

Broward

In Broward County, the first results will be released shortly after 7 p.m. and updated throughout the night.

According to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections website, approximately 431,534 ballots were cast during the early voting period, along with 263,401 votes by mail. These results will first be available shortly after 7:00 PM EST at browardvotes.gov.

According to Broward County Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott, this accounts for about 60 percent of voting results.

Ballots will then begin rolling out of precincts throughout the night and the results will be posted online. About 28,825 voters have cast ballots there as of 12:30 p.m. on Election Day, representing just 3.9% of the votes cast in the county so far.

“But I just want to warn people that what you see for Broward County doesn’t necessarily represent the state of Florida, it doesn’t represent the country. It’s exactly what we have here in Broward County,” Scott said.

Scott says Election Day turnout is off to a slow start, but he hopes it will pick up.

“I would definitely urge you to get out quickly because I have a feeling the lines are going to be very long later in the day as we expect a lot more people to show up today,” Scott said.

Polls in Florida close at 7:00 PM local time, but since Florida has two time zones, preliminary statewide election night results won’t be released until 8:00 PM EST. You can also find these results on the state election website at https://floridaelectionwatch.gov/.
