The power sweeps in Rust to provide for a Level playing field for new players join a server by allowing existing players to kickstart their grind again. It also allows anyone to set up camp in a new location, ideally with decent environmental coverage.

Servers also have their fixed times for map wipers, BP wipers (Blueprint Reset) and regular wipersFor example, an admin can set their server to perform map wipes every Wednesday, which will wipe all structures built by players and their inventories. Additionally, it will generate a new May layout for servers running procedural maps (randomly generated).

The forced wipe will occur regardless of the server settings, so a server can be wiped multiple times per month.

What to do after a force wipe in Rust?

After a forced wipe, your goal should be simple: be one of the first players to join you Rust server. It gives you an edge over those who are still downloading the update or want it on the server the next day.

To avoid the long queue and quickly load a server after a forced wipe, make sure you have the following information: Rust Staging Branch installed (around 31GB for PC) on your device. Then use the console to quickly connect to the server of your choice once the update goes live. The developer will test upcoming updates on this version before pushing the changes live to the regular game client.

I personally usually wait at least a day before joining again, as I find that most players who join quickly after a force wipe are try-hards. I get killed a few times, which doesn’t give me time to properly collect my day one loot. Of course, your experience may vary depending on the server you join.
