What September’s Partial Lunar Eclipse Means for Your Zodiac Sign

September’s full moon, also known as the Harvest Moon, is a special event because it doubles as a partial lunar eclipse, peaking at 7:44 p.m. PT on September 17.

The eclipse will begin at 6:55 p.m. that night and is expected to last 246 minutes from start to finish, with the moon only being in Earth’s dark shadow for 64 minutes. That’s because this partial eclipse will be a penumbral eclipse of the moon, meaning only a small portion of the moon will be in darkness.

When viewing the celestial display from the ground, skygazers should be able to see a shadow slowly growing around the edge of the moon on one side. However, only half of the Earth will be able to see this display.

Specifically, those who experience the night when the moon is full. Geographically, this includes the Americas, the western Indian Ocean, parts of Antarctica, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, and parts of eastern Polynesia.

PEOPLE astrologer Kyle Thomas describes lunar eclipses as “full moons on steroids” when it comes to their astrological significance, as they are “three times more powerful and set predestined and fateful events in motion.”

“News that has been building since August 17th and can’t be delivered until October 17th,” Thomas adds. September’s partial eclipse will be a full moon in Pisces, which he predicts could leave us feeling “very emotional.”

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

The eclipse is screaming at you to go within, Aries. “You may need to face your past, your baggage, your fears and your worries,” says Thomas. “Karma is coming your way.”

There may even be “a big shock” to your mental and physical health,” he continues. “If you’ve been involved in some dark situations, secrets or scandals may emerge from the shadows.”

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

A big moment involving your friendships and social circle could be here, Taurus. “You could be attending a big event or achieving a milestone, hope, dream or aspiration,” Thomas predicts.

“Another way this can affect you is if a friend or acquaintance leaves you,” he says, “but you may end up meeting new people who radically change your life path forever.”

Thomas adds: “Look for soulmates, platonic or romantic!” They could be right around the corner.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

Let the world hear your call, Gemini! Thomas predicts that the lunar eclipse will “ignite your career” and “put your ambitions and public recognition in the spotlight.”

“An award, promotion, new job, or publicity can come out of nowhere!” he adds. “Some of you may even decide to take your professional life in a completely new direction — if so, go for it.”

If a task is due around this time, Thomas advises that you “find a new task” or find a path “that is more fulfilling.”

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

Spread your wings and fly, Cancer! “The lunar eclipse will give you the courage to step out of your comfort zone,” says Thomas.

“You may now have a win in a long-distance project or a travel situation — maybe even consider immigration,” he adds. “Others may decide to continue their education or achieve a milestone while they’re already enrolled.”

If you work in media, publishing or international business, Thomas predicts “big news” is on the horizon.

Leo (July 23 to August 22)

There’s an extremely intense moment coming around partnerships, Leo. “You’re going to focus on how you share, give and receive,” says Thomas.

If you have a healthy rapport, he says, “you can decide now to ramp up the intimacy.” But if you’re on a bumpy road, he says, “the path to resolution may take you in opposite directions.”

Elsewhere in his forecast, Thomas says that “around this time you could also hear news of a large settlement, payout, stock market or inheritance – or a shift in your assets, stocks and investments.”

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

Get ready for an intense and pivotal moment in your partnership life, Virgo. Depending on where you stand, Thomas predicts that “you may be making important decisions now to grow to the next level together.”

If you’re looking for the right business partner professionally — such as an agent, assistant, attorney or accountant — “the two of you may be on the same page,” he says. However, if you’re not on the same playing field, this lunar eclipse “could bring about an intense and dramatic separation or divorce.”

If you’re single, Thomas recommends “looking for a soulmate who has the potential for a long-term relationship!”

Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)

Get ready for a whirlwind of activity around your daily routine, Libra. “This lunar eclipse will bring a major ending or turning point to your work and responsibilities,” Thomas predicts.

When a job ends — or you decide to leave — look for something that better fits your skills and schedule. “You can achieve a valued professional milestone when you’ve worked hard at something,” he suggests.

Elsewhere in his prediction, Thomas says this lunar eclipse “could bring about a change in your physical health, fitness, diet and exercise.”

Scorpio (Oct 23 to Nov 21)

There will be a light shining on matters close to your heart, Scorpio! The lunar eclipse brings a surge of energy to your passion sector, which Thomas says “can create a major turning point around romance, hobbies, fertility, true love, or creativity.”

If you’re single, he says “you could meet a soulmate” — so don’t miss the chance to put yourself out there! If you’re in a committed relationship, he says you can use this energy
“to rekindle your spark together.”

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)

Get ready for an emotional moment, Sagittarius! This lunar eclipse “can bring a big change to your home life, home, and family,” Thomas suggests.

“A powerful ending may be near now, such as moving, renovating, or deciding to redecorate altogether,” he says. If you are involved in real estate or are pursuing it, he predicts that “news may come up that you need to address.”

There is a possibility that this lunation will also affect your family. “You may need to step in now to help one of your relatives,” Thomas says. “Do it with grace, if so.”

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)

It’s time to open your mind and perspective, Capricorn! Thomas says the lunar eclipse will “amplify your zone of communication, intellect, and ideas.”

“Some of you may now present a major writing, speaking or advertising initiative to the world, as many people will engage with your ideas,” he explains. “Educational issues are also a favorite right now.”

Thomas says this lunar eclipse may also “inspire you to travel, visit nearby destinations or take a road trip.” Whatever it is, have fun!

Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)

There’s a big change coming to your financial life, Aquarius. Thomas predicts that this lunar eclipse will “shake up your income and wealth.”

“Some people see one financial stream ending, and a new one coming in,” he says. “More money could come in the form of a raise, a side job, or a new job offer.”

Thomas adds: “You can also make a big payment during this period, so watch your spending!”

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)

Rise up, Pisces! Thomas says that “one of the most important times of your entire life” is ahead of you! As the lunar eclipse electrifies your sign, he says that “a profound, predestined event is about to unfold for you.”

There can be major endings, breakthroughs or breakdowns. Thomas suggests using this period to “let go of the past” and “anything that doesn’t serve you or make you happy,” especially in relationships.
