Deion Sanders’ coaching future remains a major topic of discussion.

In recent weeks, the Pro Football Hall of Famer has shut down questions about a potential jump to the NFL. Sanders has repeatedly told reporters (and former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin) that he plans to stay in Colorado.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked for his thoughts on Irvin’s apparent recruitment of Sanders and whether Coach Prime can succeed at the professional level.

“Well, I would say how much I’m in camp for Deion’s success and what he is, how he became the coach he is today. It’s not surprising,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) on Thursday. “He’s a great athlete, and a really great one, he’s just as good a person and just as good, he’s got the kind of energy, and he just stood out as someone that young men would be inspired by and guided by. .

“I think we’re way ahead of ourselves in terms of when and if he decides to coach in the NFL.”

Jones also had high praise for Shedeur Sanders, Deion’s son and Colorado’s starting quarterback.

In a recent interview with Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd, Irvin said he believed “100%” that Deion Sanders would take over as Cowboys head coach if the franchise drafted Shedeur. Deion and Shedeur Sanders are currently in the midst of a successful season with Colorado, leading the Buffaloes to an 8-2 mark as they compete for a Big 12 title game and a berth in the College Football Playoff.

Jones revealed how impressed he is with Deion Sanders’ recruiting skills at the collegiate level, saying it was a skill that could help the former defensive back when he makes the jump to the pros.

“I mean, kids want to come play for him and he has a way of selling that. That’s one skill, that recruiting skill, that’s not a big prerequisite for NFL coaches,” Jones said. “So one of his biggest values ​​is in that area of ​​building the team, in terms of getting great talent to play for him there in Colorado.
