What are we playing this weekend?

The quest for the cheapest yet best quality supermarket drink-as-you-go coffee continues. I know this is the first time I’ve told you about this project, but it’s been going on since I moved to Glasgow. So far, Lidl’s own brand remains the clear winner, a solid 8 on the taste meter for just 59p. But as I write this, I’m sipping on an “Intenso” Arctic Coffee from Morrisons, which is finally giving the frontrunners from Lidl some serious competition, albeit at 145% of the cost. Will there be a real winner? Find out next week! For now, here’s what we’ll all be clicking on this weekend!

Forgive my trumpeting, but there’s a game I’ve been working on that came out this week. Creatures Of Ava is about taking pictures of aliens, so I’m going to continue watching other people play it on YouTube and Twitch, which is kind of like playing the game myself. I want to see if they get my dumb jokes.

Playing through the preview build for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 this weekend, I was pining for something equally loud and stupid, but I don’t know what. My backlog is full of dainty fare – visual novels and obscure tactics games, with nary a curmudgeonly QTE execution in sight. Hmmm, let’s dive into a list of the best action games (I swear I’m actually looking and this isn’t an SEO plug). Ooh, how about Max Payne 3?

Spends the weekend letting his bones return to their normal shape, after too many weekday meetings led to an event the RPS treehouse refers to only as “The Crumpling.”

No games for me this weekend as I’m off to a bachelor party all day. I promised my friends I’d bring the Asus ROG Ally X so they could try it out. Guys guys guys.

Over the next few weeks, I will be individually shaking hands with all of the readers across the ocean as a thank you for reading our bundle of RPS guides.

I keep seeing out-of-context clips of Thank Goodness You’re Here! on TikTok and it looks delightfully manic and totally up my alley. The game sells itself on its absurdly British ethos and honestly I think we could all use a good laugh every now and then. It’s also only a few hours long which means my pile of shame (aka years of unfinished games) won’t judge me too much for starting something new.

I bought The Last Of Us Part 2 for my console. I watched the whole thing twice on YouTube but never actually played it. It’s good survival horror! It’s actually extremely brave and risky to take a classic tragedy and do it in a medium where the audience demands that they leave the theater feeling good, or they’ll label your work as a capital-P flawed product! It’s still a bit of a mess and I have to try hard not to think of the political undertones! I’m enjoying it.

The gang and I recently moved back to Apex to try out the new season (and catch up on what we missed during our time away). I have to say, it’s still a ton of fun. And the newest Legend (well, new to me) has an intriguing new take on the teleport-y toolkit. But mostly, I’m playing a game to review. I won’t spoil anything, but it’s by far the most fun I’ve ever had reviewing a game. This thing is eating up my time like it’s nothing.

But you, dear reader, what are you going to play this weekend?
