West Lyon earns 3 unanimous all-Siouxland Conference nods

Jersey Hawf, Reese Kramer and Evy Knoblock of the West Lyon High School softball team were all unanimously named to the Siouxland all-conference team.

The trio were joined in the first team by teammate Leah Blauwet.

Hawf finished the season with a stellar 1.08 ERA, best in the conference by more than a full run. She also led the Siouxland in wins (16) and opponent batting average (.168) and was second in strikeouts (154). With the bat, she finished with the fourth-most hits (36), led the league in triples (five) and was also top five in total bases (66) and slugging percentage (.805).

Kramer ranked third in the conference in singles this season (32) with a .472 batting average.

Blauwet batted .405 this season with 42 bases, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Sioux Center had a trio named to the first team with juniors Margo Schuiteman and Sophia Woodward (both unanimously selected), along with sophomore pitcher Courteney Schmidt Sioux Center.

Schuiteman hit .541 on the season, while Woodward, who competed in last season’s West Monona State Qualifier, hit .343 with 23 runs scored, while Schmidt led the Warriors’ pitching staff with a 3.01 ERA.

Also unanimously approved were Unity Christian freshman Summer Schouten and MOC-Floyd Valley juniors Aubrey DeShaw and Addy Leusink, while MOC-Floyd Valley junior Ava Meis was also named to the first team.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley also had two unanimous choices in juniors Kavri Van Kekerix and Rylee Bomgaars.

Kavri Van Kekerix and DeShaw tied for the league lead in home runs with six each. DeShaw also tied teammate Meis for third-most doubles, and Schouten batted .500 for the campaign.

Kavri Van Kekerix led the conference in batting average with a mark of .593. DeShaw led the Dutch with 33 RBI’s with a batting average of .432, while Leusink batted .419 with 28 RBI’s and 25 runs scored.

Bomgaars hit .400 for the Nighthawks with 35 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

Sheldon was represented on the first team by senior pitcher Tori Elgersma, who finished 2024 with the conference’s most strikeouts (197) and the second-best ERA at 2.69. She also finished with the third-best batting average (.542).

Central Lyon’s Riley Weiler Central Lyon was also a first-teamer. The senior catcher threw out eight would-be base stealers to lead the conference.

The second team was led by West Lyon sophomores Braylyn Childress and Katelyn Berentschot, who helped the Wildcats to the conference title (16-0 record in the Siouxland, 22-4 overall).

Sioux Center junior Maci Schmalbeck, Unity Christian freshman Addyson DeBoom, MOC-FV sophomore Keaton Van Kekerix and Sheldon junior Peyton Dekker Sheldon also made the second team, along with Central Lyon senior Shelby Stettnichs and Sibley-Ocheyedan ​​sophomore Grace Sayler.

BH/RV saw two points of recognition in the second team: senior Raya Van Beek and first-year Natalie Leusink.
