West Ham could sell two strikers in January as Lopetegui reshuffle

West Ham United could part ways with strikers Michail Antonio and Danny Ings in January, according to reports.

Both players are in the final year of their contracts, meaning they could leave for free next summer.

West Ham signed German international Niclas Fullkrug in the summer, but the 31-year-old has yet to start in the Premier League and may need time to adjust to English football. Fullkrug was also injured for the weekend’s 1-1 draw at Fulham.

Ings scored the equaliser in the 95th minute of that match, but has played just 13 minutes so far this season.

Antonio has been Julen Lopetegui’s regular striker so far this season, but he has yet to score in four appearances and has not scored a goal for West Ham since late April.

Will West Ham make money with Antonio and Ings?

Danny Ings of West Ham United celebrates his goal during the Premier League match between Fulham FC and West Ham United FC at Craven Cottage on September 14, 2024 in London, England.

West Ham will therefore need a new striker in January, but to do so they will need to reduce their wage bill.

According to Football InsiderWest Ham are looking for buyers for both Antonio and Ings in January, as they aim to keep the fees they can get for the duo as high as possible, rather than losing them for nothing six months later.

The fees they could receive, combined with the fact that their salaries are no longer on the books, should free up enough money for Lopetegui to look for another No.9 if he feels Fullkrug needs further reinforcement.

According to Football Insider, striker is West Ham’s ‘top priority’ for the next transfer window.
