West Ham could sell three defenders after Todibo transfer completes

West Ham United’s arrival of Jean-Clair Todibo could open up the possibility for up to three of the club’s current centre-backs to leave the club, according to reports.

On Saturday, the Hammers announced the £35million transfer of Todibo from Ligue 1 club Nice, reportedly beating Italian giants Juventus to his signature.

Todibo is the seventh signing of what has been a very busy summer for West Ham, who have also brought in Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez and Wes Foderingham and are leaning heavily on new manager Julen Lopetegui.

But since so many people are arriving, there will undoubtedly be some leaving as well.

Experienced defender Angelo Ogbonna has already been released, but the Italian could be joined by a further three centre-backs via the London Stadium as the Hammers look to purge the squad in preparation for the Lopetegui era.

According to HITC, Kurt Zouma is on the verge of transferring to Shabab Al-Ahli, a club from the United Arab Emirates.

Their report also states that Nayef Aguerd and Konstantinos Mavropanos could be up for sale this summer as West Ham look to cut wages.

With both Todibo and Kilman now in contract, it is difficult to expect the aforementioned trio to get the playing time they desire. It is difficult to see all three leave in one transfer window, but it would not be surprising to see at least one or two sold.
