West Ham 0-0 Everton: Opta deputy editor on Blues’ struggles

Opta deputy editor Patric Ridge joined BBC Radio Merseyside to discuss the 0-0 draw Westham.

“At the moment I’m not sure there is enough tactical insight and flair to get the best out of the attackers,” said Ridge.

“On Saturday there were some situations where the team got into good positions and couldn’t find the last pass or get the shot at the right time and that’s down to the players.”

Sean Dyche’s side had 18 shots on target at the London Stadium, hitting the target with four of those attempts and failing to score.

“There’s so much more to give on offense and that’s where I want to see the improvement,” Ridge added.

“However long Dyche is here, whether he gets a new contract or not, it is now up to him to really try to find that little bit extra and prove that he can do it.”

Everton scored just ten goals in the first ten games of the season, with only Manchester United (nine), Crystal Palace (eight) and Southampton (seven) scoring fewer.
