Boxing icon Cinnamon Alvarez and UFC CEO Dana White will square off in a rare scheduling conflict between marquee boxing and MMA events. The clash is scheduled for September 16 in Las Vegas. Turkish Alalshikh who is also prominent in the combat sports industry, supported the UFC CEO to make his dream project a reality, also commenting on the big PPV clash on the same date.

Mexican boxer Alvarez will take on Edgar Berlanga at the MGM-owned T-Mobile Arena. Meanwhile, just two miles away, UFC will hold its first live sporting event at the groundbreaking “Sphere” venue. Canelo is determined to disrupt White’s dream project.

Interestingly, Saudi Arabia’s envoy, Alalshikh, seemed more inclined to make UFC a success, as he bankrolled Dana White’s dream project at the Sphere. In a recent interview with ESPNthe Saudi delegate was asked what he thought of the clash between the UFC and Canelo’s boxing match.

Alalshikh was quick to respond and support White’s UFC Noche event. The UFC CEO often considered this as his dream project and to make it a success, he spent a lot of money. Previously, UFC had organized four pay-per-view events at the T-Mobile Arena in the past two years. Interestingly, ESPN asked the UFC boss the same question as Alashikh. White apparently showed a lot of frustration with MGM.

Haymon snatched that date right away from me. The guys at MGM have done nothing but f***ing disrespect me and the UFC for 20 years. It is what it is. Here we go

This isn’t the first time these combat sports titans have clashed. White outpointed Canelo last year, hosting the inaugural Noche UFC after the MMA promotion reserved the date. Alvarez instead fought two weeks later at T-Mobile Arena, picking up a win over Jermell Charlo. But the way Turki Alalshikh gave the vocal commentary on Canelo. It will be interesting to see how their relationship will work in the future.

But before Canelo is fully prepared for his next fight against Edgar Berlanga in September. Meanwhile, Crawford will face the undefeated Israil Madrimov on August 3.
