“We are looking for them” – Khamzat Chimaev scammed in crypto fraud, on the hunt after manager “mistake”

Khamzat Chimaev has finally spoken out about the recent flurry of accusations surrounding him over the promotion of the ‘Smash’ crypto token. ‘Borz’ was in the news for his social media recommendation of the crypto token to his followers and encouraging their purchase. However, the value of the token plummeted less than a day after Chimaev’s social media promotion, leading to accusations of ‘scamming’ his fans against the UFC star.

The incident prompted a flood of criticism from crypto researchers and UFC middleweight Sean Strickland, who stated on X: “I got paid a lot of money to do the exact same thing… Crazy man, you’re rich and yet you’re trying to rip off your fans.” Now Chimaev has cleared the air and issued a chilling warning to the people behind the ‘Smash’ token!

In a recent interview, Khamzat Chimaev explained the situation surrounding the ‘Smash’ token debacle and admitted that mistakes were made by him and his manager. Chimaev stated: “Well, my manager… you can say he acted stupid and I also made a mistake in this crypto. I don’t understand anything about it (crypto), I trust my manager.”

‘Borz’ also described how he got involved in the promotion of Smash Token. He said that he trusted people who assured him that it was a legitimate opportunity, revealing that, “…my people said I could trust them.On the advice of his team, he made a promotional video and an advertisement, expecting to be paid for it.

However, things went wrong when the team behind the token’s creation disappeared, as he further explained: “Well, these people are lost now too.” But in a chilling warning, Chimaev then confessed that “Now we are looking for them. One has been found. They forced him to make a video, that is their fault. And we will find the others, and we will make them apologize.”

As such, Chimaev’s admission shed light on the complexities and risks associated with cryptocurrency endorsements, especially when celebrities and athletes with no expertise in the field get involved. His manager, Majdi Shammas had also issued a statement following the outcry over the incident, stating: “My apologies to Khamzat and everyone else affected by this. If I could have done something differently.”

There is also speculation in the MMA world about what the future holds for Khamzat Chimaev, as he has been out of action since defeating Kamaru Usman at UFC 294 in 2023. In a recent statement, ‘Borz’ revealed that he has one goal in mind when he returns to the Octagon!

‘Borz’ wants the middleweight title when he steps back into the cage

Khamzat Chimaev was scheduled to fight Robert Whittaker on the UFC Saudi Arabia card but had to pull out due to health issues. In a recent interview with Match TV, the undefeated UFC star said: “Probably (my return will be) in October in Abu Dhabi, (the opponent is) unknown so far. I would like to fight for the title.”

The middleweight title is currently held by Dricus Du Plessis, who is scheduled to defend it against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 in August. So if Chimaev returns in October, there is a possibility that the 185 lbs. division will have a new champion, so it remains to be seen whether or not the UFC will accept his demands.
