Watch: Manu Bhaker casts vote in Haryana elections 2024: ‘I voted for the first time’

Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker exercised her right to vote in the 2024 Haryana elections and encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to participate in the democratic process. Manu, along with her father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, cast her vote at a polling station in Charkhi Dadri on October 5.

“As the youth of this country, it is our responsibility to cast our vote for the most favorable candidate. Small steps lead to big goals. I voted for the first time,” Manu Bhaker told ANI.

Her father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, expressed pride that Manu is a role model for young voters. He also emphasized the importance of voting.

“Manu is the brand ambassador and a youth icon to vote. She had to come. We vote in every election. How will our village develop if we don’t vote… I would like to ask everyone to come and vote. It is better to Come out today than to curse the government for the next five years…,” said Manu Bhaker’s father.

Major political parties such as the BJP, Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are vying for power in Haryana. The BJP is seeking a third consecutive term, while the Congress is aiming to regain control, with issues like farmers’ protests and wrestlers’ protests influencing voters.

Voting will take place in 90 constituencies, with 1,031 candidates participating. The elections will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with more than 20,000 polling booths set up for voters. Over 2 crore voters, including 467 of the third gender, are eligible to vote.

Manu Bhaker biopic

Manu Bhaker was earlier asked about her potential biopic. She said she was not ready for a Bollywood version of her life as her career still had more to unfold. She said at the Mumbai 2024 Conclave that there would be many actors to choose from if a film on her was considered.

Talking about how Bollywood actor Ananya Panday had expressed interest in playing her, Manu praised Ananya’s recent work, especially her performance in Kho Gaye Hum Kahanwhich she found impressive. Pandays CTRL is streaming on Netflix. The OTT thriller has received rave reviews from viewers.
