Kusal Mendis is one of the most talented batters in Sri Lankan cricket but he is not in top form in LPL 2024. But as we say, form is temporary and class is permanent, Kusal Mendis stepped up in the all-important Qualifier 2 and hit a fantastic century to put his team Jaffna Kings in control against Kandy Falcons.

The right-handed opener scored 105 off just 54 balls to remain unbeaten as Jaffna scored 187 in their allotted 20 overs. Kusal Mendis began with a boundary against Mathews in the very first over. He followed this up with boundaries in the next two overs and continued to bat in top gear despite wickets falling at the other end. He hit five sixes and 12 fours in his knock.

He reached his century on the fourth delivery of the 19th over, reaching the landmark with a delicate late cut that he drove with precision into the opening over through the back point region for a boundary.

The strike was quite a statement from the talented batsman and the emotions were clearly visible as he celebrated his 100th goal. The man jumped up and down in joy, roared and kissed his bat as the entire stadium applauded the man’s genius in the all-important Qualifier 2 of LPL 2024.
