Warriors are Tiger Hills U15 champions – PembinaValleyOnline.com

The Winkler Warriors completed an undefeated season by winning the Tiger Hills U15 Girls Minor Softball League championship.

“It feels great,” noted Warriors head coach Myron Dyck. “We have such a great group of talented girls who have worked so hard throughout the season. The girls all bonded so well and had so much fun along the way. As coaches/parents, we are all very proud of the girls.”

The Warriors went 8-0 in the regular season and then won three straight in the playoffs.

Winkler defeated Rock Lake 18-0, defeated the Winkler Wildcats 4-3, then defeated the Carman Cardinals 9-7 in the gold medal match.

“The key to success was the girls trying to be positive and respectful no matter the outcome, trying to do their best and having as much fun as possible along the way,” Coach Dyck noted. “The girls were really challenged in the semifinals against the other Winkler team. We were down by three runs going into the last inning, the excitement was high, the faces were lit up and then the sticks lit up and the rest is history. We won 4-3. The final game was a little more relaxed, the girls did what they do best. Great pitching, fielding and hitting.”

“I was so proud of the accomplishments of these young ladies,” added Coach Dyck. “It doesn’t happen often, an undefeated season. As a coach, I am so thankful for the great assistant coaches, manager, and supportive parents.”
