WaPo claims star swimmer Katie Ledecky couldn’t get along with teenage boys

When people debate the implications of men competing in women’s sports, they often do so by talking about how men have biological advantages over women. Most reasonable people conclude that this means that men should not compete in women’s sports.

Yet many people (especially on the left) continue to ignore the evidence of men like Lia Thomasor the controversy surrounding the boxing tournament at the Summer OlympicsThey claim that anyone who would use these examples as evidence for their position is ‘sexist’, ‘transphobic’ or just plain stupid.

But the evidence continues to mount, and it’s not just in lower-profile sports like women’s swimming or amateur boxing. Even the best female athletes of all time would lose if they were forced to compete against men much younger than them.

“The Washington Post” published an article yesterday with numerous examples of times when men were allowed to compete against women and they won easily. The most compelling example they gave involved Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky. Although Ledecky never competed against men, it’s probably a good thing she didn’t.

The Post compared Ledecky’s world-record time in the 800m freestyle (her best race) to the times of American boys ages 15 and 16 in the same event. You’d think that Ledecky, the most decorated female swimmer ever, would be much better than people nine years her junior.

But that’s not what the evidence shows.

Ledecky’s best time in her best event would be only 26th place if she were competing against a field of 15- and 16-year-old boys.

Let me repeat: the best swimmer of all time would hardly make it into the top 30 if she were competing against a group of boys who were still in puberty and some of whom didn’t even have their driver’s licenses yet.

At some point you have to look at this kind of evidence and see that there isn’t even an argument. Ultimately you have to come to the same conclusion that Kirk Herbstreit did last week.

The evidence is clear, men have inherent physical advantages over women and should not be allowed to compete with them. Anyone who claims otherwise ignores a mountain of facts.
