Wamego man dies after K-99 crash Wednesday

A Wamego man was killed Wednesday afternoon after a crash on K-99 south of Wamego in Wabaunsee County.

The accident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. when a 2009 Chevy Silverado driven by Damon Welsh, 20, of Manhattan, was traveling south on K-99 and for an unknown reason crossed the center line and struck a 2010 Honda CR-V , piloted by John, hit. Long, 69, of Wamego. Both vehicles became disabled in the east ditch on K-99.

Welsh was transported to Stormont Vail by paramedics for suspected serious injuries. His further status at this time is currently unknown. Long was taken to Wamego Health Center, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m.
