Virginia Football Roster Update: Notable Number Changes

The official roster for the 2024 Virginia football team has recently been updated, revealing the jersey numbers of newcomers to this year’s squad, as well as some notable changes to the jersey numbers of some of the team’s returning players.

Perhaps most importantly, quarterback Tony Muskett moves to #7, the player previously worn on offense by Mike Hollins. This allows Muskett’s former #11 to now be worn by Kent State wide receiver Trell Harris.

Notre Dame transfer Chris Tyree will wear No. 4, a number Malik Washington most recently wore on offense during his record-breaking 2023 season.

Eastern Michigan defensive back Kempton Shine will wear number 29, which is interesting because returning safety Davis Lane Jr. is also still at number 29, so Virginia currently has two defenders with the same number.

Other returning players with new jersey numbers include JR Wilson, Jaden Gibson, Mekhi Buchanan, Titus Ivy and Donte Hawthorne.
