Actor Kevin James provided one of the most memorable non-racing moments in Daytona history in 2007, when he sang a stirring rendition of “Gentleman, start your engines.”

On Tuesday, he gave an epic look back at the game between the New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles:

It was enough to get the crowd fired up, but it’s questionable whether it had any effect on the players. At the time of publication, the Mets were down 6-1.

James, who is best known for his role in the King of Queens television show, is an avid Mets fan and even named his daughter Shea, after the team’s former home stadium, Shea Stadium.

“Say what you want about my movies, my career, my weight, have fun,” he once said on a WOR radio sports talk show in 2016. “Three things are undeniable: my faith, my family and my loyalty to the Mets.”

That seemed clear on Tuesday.
