Victor Osimhen saga finally over

It was the transfer soap opera of the summer and a bit of Victor Osimhen’s fidgeting that got spectacularly out of hand.

The Nigerian appeared keen to move to Chelsea at various stages of the summer transfer window. However, it appeared he was in a situation where he wanted to get every penny out of the deal, but ultimately he got into such trouble that there was a real risk he could be dropped by Napoli.

Luckily for everyone, Turkish giant Galatasaray are arm in arm like the proverbial nightingale.

According to Fabrizio Romano, columnist and transfer expert at CaughtOffside, Osimhen has now agreed a loan spell with the club until next summer.

Gala did not include a purchase option or obligation in the deal and the chances of him staying beyond the loan term seem slim, given that he has always been known to want a big club for him.

‘Here We Go’ for Victor Osimhen

For now, it is a deal that seems to be beneficial to all parties, although things can change in the blink of an eye in football, and they often do.

Perhaps the deal can also serve as a warning to players in particular in the future.

With FFP still being a major problem, clubs don’t seem to be as brazen in the transfer market as they used to be.

Chelsea in particular appear to be walking a tightrope in this regard, which could partly explain why the Blues have been reluctant to accept the striker’s financial demands.

Anyway, all’s well that ends well, and Napoli will undoubtedly breathe a sigh of relief after the deal for Osimhen fell through on the final day. That would have left them in a very delicate situation.
