Victor Osimhen remains a credible option

With just over three weeks to go before the transfer window closes again, things are starting to get exciting for clubs like Arsenal and their Premier League rivals.

The Gunners have been consistent and diligent in their dealings over the last few seasons, seeming to focus on certain areas and then move on to the players they want with as little fuss as possible.

Compare that way of working with the ‘boy in a candy store’ style of London neighbours Chelsea.

Di Marzio: Arsenal in race for Osimhen

Under Todd Boehly, it seems that if the American owner likes a player, he buys them, regardless of whether he needs them, and then he expects the manager to build a winning team.

We saw this especially under Mauricio Pochettino and it is therefore no surprise that the Argentine quickly chose the path of ‘mutual consent’.

Victor Osimhen could sign for Arsenal this summer

It has looked like the Blues are courting Victor Osimhen for some time now, but for the first time they have not simply managed to splash the cash and bring the Nigerian to the club.

The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules have led to a much stricter application of Financial Fair Play regulations and the West London club simply cannot afford to buy Osimhen without significant sales or creative accounting, the latter of which could come back to haunt them in the future.

According to reliable journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, that may be the reason why Arsenal are still in the race for the striker and the deal is close to being completed.

Such a move would not only embarrass Boehly but would also raise alarm bells among Chelsea fans.

In a sense, losing Osimhen, which seems the most likely scenario for Chelsea at the moment, will be a huge disappointment at Stamford Bridge.
