US Open Men’s Semi-Finals: Live Updates as Jannik Sinner Takes on Jack Draper for a Place in the Final in New York

The 2024 US Open men’s and women’s singles tournaments have produced a number of surprises at the end, with new names advancing deep into the semifinals. In the women’s singles event, Jessica Pegula, making her first Grand Slam final, will take on Aryna Sabalekena for the title on Saturday, while the men’s event will also see an American player reach her first major final.

But first, world No. 1 — and 2024 Australian Open winner — Jannik Sinner will face Britain’s Jack Draper, who is on the deepest Grand Slam run of his career. Draper reached the fourth round of last year’s US Open, where he was knocked out by Andrey Rublev. If he can win the title, Sinner will become the first Italian to win two Grand Slams in the same season.

Semifinal No. 2 pits two Americans against each other, with 12th-seeded Taylor Fritz taking on 20th-seeded Frances Tiafoe. Fritz is making his first US Open semifinal — and every Grand Slam semifinal — while Tiafoe has reached the last four in New York for the second time. He lost to eventual 2022 champion Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set thriller. Both faced top-10 players in the quarterfinals, with Fritz toppling fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev and Tiafoe beating ninth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov.
