Ukrainian drones target Russian alcohol factories overnight, local authorities claim

Ukrainian drones attacked four factories in Russia’s Tula, Tambov and Voronezh oblasts on the night of October 22, Russian local authorities claimed.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its air defenses had destroyed eleven drones over Bryansk Oblast, three over Belgorod Oblast, two over Kursk Oblast, one over Tula Oblast and one over Orel Oblast.

According to Governor Maxim Egorov, a Ukrainian drone reportedly set fire to the Biokhim distillery in the city of Rasskazovo in Tambov Oblast.

According to Biokhim’s website, the company produces “products of strategic importance to the state,” most notably ethanol, a solvent used in the manufacture of a wide range of products, including explosives.

Two more distilleries were attacked overnight in the Efremov and Luzhkovsky settlements of Tula Oblast, Governor Dmitry Milyaev said.

Alexander Gusev, governor of Voronezh Oblast, claimed that a drone strike caused a small fire on one of the floors of an industrial enterprise.

No casualties have been reported.

The Ukrainian military has not yet commented on the reports, which cannot be independently verified.

Ukraine has carried out a number of attacks on air bases and other military facilities in an effort to weaken Russia’s more powerful air force and curb Moscow’s ability to launch devastating air strikes on Ukrainian cities.
