Ukrainian border guards fend off Russian attack near Vovchansk

Fighters from the Kramatorsk Border Guard Detachment successfully repelled a Russian attack that destroyed two infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs).

This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

According to Klymenko, the Russian troops tried to storm the position of the Kramatorsk border guards with two infantry units. The attack started after heavy artillery preparation using 120mm mortars. Under cover of fire and supported by two IFVs, the enemy launched an attack from the front and left flank.

“The State Border Guard soldiers were engaged in an intense battle that lasted more than two hours,” Klymenko noted.

Using aerial reconnaissance and support from nearby positions, the border guards managed to destroy two IFVs and eliminate twelve Russian soldiers, while capturing two more.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, border guards near Vovchansk used drones to attack Russian positions and destroy military equipment.
