UFC star Khamzat Chimaev admits he made a ‘dumb move’ in cryptocurrency controversy

Khamzat Chimaev recently promoted the Smash token cryptocurrency, had many of his fans invested in it just before the token crashed. Fans were quick to accuse Chimaev of ‘insider trading’ and ripping him off. ‘Borz’ and his team then released an apology video with one of the token’s founders, but the UFC fighter himself has yet to comment.

In a recent interview with Red Corner MMA, the reporter asked the UFC fighter about the whole cryptocurrency situation and he admitted his mistake.

Chimaev looked quite dejected when talking about the situation and insisted that he knows nothing about cryptocurrency,

“My manager… you can say he acted stupid and I also made a mistake in this crypto. I don’t understand anything about it (crypto), I trust my manager…”

Although he admitted that he made a mistake, he did not talk about what he would do for the fans who lost their money. He only said that he would find the people responsible and make them apologize. However, fans have called for him to fire his manager because of his mistake.

While Chimaev cleared the air about the crypto fraud, he also addressed the rumors that Sean Strickland had beaten him up during a sparring match.

Strickland is lying?

Former middleweight champion Strickland recently stated that he defeated Chimaev in a sparring session. The American told how he dominated in the strike exchanges.

However, in a recent interview with Red Corner MMA, the Chechen fighter shed some light on the situation and helped fans understand what really happened. Strickland told them:

“There were a lot of guys around who saw me choke him and beat him up… We have some unfinished business. It would be good to see who’s better in the octagon.”

Chimaev claims that he not only defeated Strickland, but that he has witnesses and a tape of the entire sparring session to prove his claim. It will be interesting to see if the Russian fighter ever releases the tape and lets the fans decide who wins.
