Two Rivers Police Provide Update on Search for Missing Elijah Vue

TWO RIVERS (WLUK) — Two Rivers police are holding a news conference about the ongoing search for missing Elijah Vue after human remains were recently found.

Police said local, state and federal officials will be present at Friday’s 4:30 p.m. briefing to provide updates.

Three-year-old Vue was reported missing on Feb. 20 by his caregiver, Jesse Vang. Prosecutors say Vue’s mother, Katrina Baur, sent her son to stay with Vang — her boyfriend — at his Two Rivers apartment for “disciplinary reasons.”

An Amber Alert was issued and despite extensive searches, Vue has not been found.

Last Saturday, a deer hunter found human remains on private property near the entrance to Camp Manitou, a Boy Scout camp.

Authorities have not provided specific information about the race, gender or age of the remains.

The remains were found less than five miles from where Vue was reported missing.

Researchers have indicated that identifying the remains will be a lengthy process.

Meanwhile, Baur and Vang are facing child abuse charges related to the state of the home and the boy’s treatment. No one has been charged in connection with the child’s disappearance.

Last month, a judge denied Baur’s request to lower her bail. Baur recently got a new attorney who asked for time to review the case, so a status conference has been scheduled for Oct. 22.

Meanwhile, Vang is scheduled to appear in court again on September 27 for a status conference. No trial date has been set.
