Two arrested for vehicle theft and assault in Tompkins County, deputy injured

LANSING (WBNG) – The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two adults on Saturday for auto theft and assault.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert Snyder, 25, of Lansing, and Victoria Rose, 29, of Pennsylvania.

Around 11 a.m., the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Village of Cayuga Heights Police Department and New York State Police, responded to a business in the 2300 block of N. Triphammer Road in the Village of Lansing.

The office said that upon arrival, Synder and Rose were found at a business, where they allegedly attempted to commit additional thefts. When officers arrived, they saw Snyder standing in front of the business. Meanwhile, Rose was seen leaving the building and walking around the vehicles in the parking lot.

Snyder was taken into custody without incident, according to the office. Meanwhile, Rose walked between parked vehicles and got into an unoccupied car that wasn’t hers. As officers approached, she backed up, hitting an officer who was not injured and then collided with another parked car before speeding away.

In a news release, the office said Rose tried to escape from authorities.

“Rose was quickly found in a parking lot further north on N. Triphammer Road. When officers pulled up behind Rose, they saw that she had already parked the vehicle and was running away on foot. A deputy caught up with Rose, and while taking Rose into custody, the deputy was struck in the head several times by her before being detained. The deputy suffered minor injuries.”

It was discovered that Rose stole the getaway vehicle using keys she allegedly took from the business.

Rose and Snyder are being held at the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office while the investigation is ongoing.
