Two arrested after stabbing in Bath

Two people have been arrested this morning (Sunday, November 24) following a serious assault in Bath.

We were called to Terrace Walk in Bath at around 2.55am to reports of a man with a number of stab wounds.

Officers arrived within three minutes of the call being received and, along with the public, immediately administered first aid.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition. His injuries are life-changing. His next of kin have been informed.

Investigations were underway to identify the suspects and two people were spotted around 4:30 this morning.

The 18-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, the 19-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of assisting an perpetrator. Both are still in pre-trial detention pending the investigation.

Neighborhood Police Leader Karen Corrigan said: “I understand that this will be a distressing and distressing incident for the community and I would like to reassure them that this is being treated as an isolated incident and that there is no further risk to the public expected.

“I would like to commend the work of members of the public who provided immediate first aid to the victim before officers arrived, and of the officers who continued to provide this first aid, along with paramedics.

“A scene remains in place in Terrace Walk as investigations continue and the public can expect an increased police presence in the coming days.

“If you have any concerns or questions, please contact someone from the Neighborhood Policing Team who will conduct high-visibility patrols. There are mobile police stations in Bath city centre, at the locally named ‘Bog Island’.”
