President-elect Donald Trump called on the “authorities” to investigate those who spread rumors that he was selling Truth Social.

Since defeating Vice President Kamala HarrisRumors are swirling online that Trump would sell Truth Social or merge it with Billionaire Elon Musk’s X, formerly Twitter. On Friday afternoon, however, Trump sought to dispel those rumors and vowed to preserve the online platform created in the wake of his 2021 Twitter ban.

Furthermore, Trump claimed that any reports that he sold shares of Truth Social are “likely illegal rumors” and requested that “the appropriate authorities” investigate the matter immediately.

“There have been false, untrue and likely illegal rumors and/or statements made by perhaps market manipulators or short sellers that I am interested in selling shares of Truth,” Trump wrote before delivering his rant. “Those rumors or statements are false. I HAVE NO INTENTION TO SELL!”

According to Business Insider, shares of Trump Media rose about 15% after Trump’s statement late Friday afternoon.

The President-elect concluded: “I hereby request that the people who have spread these false rumors or statements, and who may have done so in the past, be immediately investigated by the relevant authorities. The truth is an important part of our historic victory, and I believe in it deeply. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
