Tropicana Field roof torn as Hurricane Milton rages

As Hurricane Milton barreled down Florida’s west coast, the cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg were in the crosshairs of the massive storm. When the storm made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane, the damage to Florida’s west coast was endless. More than three million people are without power and there is damage to large parts of the coast.

Tropicana Field was one of those important areas. The home of MLB’s Tampa Bay Rans was designated as a place where first responders could bring people, but the field was destroyed by the hurricane, ripping the roof tarpaulin off the stadium.

As the storm left the area Thursday morning, a clearer picture of the damage Hurricane Milton caused to the Rays’ stadium was provided.

The Rays have not released a statement about the roof destruction. Hurricane Milton will move away from Florida starting Thursday, but the wind can still be felt due to the powerful gusts. Everyone living on the east coast of Florida, stay safe.
