TRIBUTE

Tributes have begun to pour in on social media following the deaths of Tyrone friends Ryan and Gordy.

Sinn Féin MLA in the West Tyrone constituency, Maolíosa McHugh, said there was ‘shock at the deaths’ after the tragedy.

Mr McHugh said: “People in the area were devastated when they woke up this morning to this tragic news.

“I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of Gordy Galbraith and Ryan Glenn who are plunged into grief as a result of this tragedy.

“My thoughts and prayers are also with the three injured and I hope they make a full recovery.”

The Sinn Féin politician praised the emergency services who attended and assisted the accident.

Dergview FC said: ‘The club would like to express its deepest condolences to the Galbraith family on the tragic death of Gordy and to the Glenn family on the death of Ryan.

‘Gordy was a former player for the club at both youth and senior level and his two sons currently play for our Youth Academy.

“Our thoughts and prayers are also with the others involved in the accident.”

The Pride of The Derg Flute Band in Castlederg also paid tribute.

‘Gordy was a former member of the band and a loyal supporter since the band’s formation in 2004… in the photo below Gordy leads the band at our first parade 20 years ago in Londonderry on Lundy Day. He rose to the flute core in the coming years,” they said.

They added that the late Gordy’s musical talents were ‘endless’, with the father-of-two able to play the flute and harmonica and sing.

‘As we head to this year’s Lundy Parade we will have Gordy in our thoughts and prayers as he was the first to book a seat on the bus when he heard the band were returning to Londonderry 20 years later.’
