Travis Kelce to star in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ with Adam Sandler

Travis Kelce’s acting career is growing by the day. His latest role is in “Happy Gilmore 2”, the sequel to the 1996 golf comedy.

Actor Adam Sandler, a guest on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” confirmed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end will have a role in the film, which begins filming next month in New Jersey.

“(Travis comes) over. He’s a really nice guy,” Sandler said. “You guys would love him in person. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”

While Kelce seems to be committing to roles in films and television shows on a weekly basis, he first floated the idea in June on the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason.

Kelce responded to a theory on Reddit that he would appear in the film, saying he’s open to any role and that he’s a big fan of Sandler.

“I didn’t even know there was an opening for ‘Happy Gilmore 2,'” Kelce said. “I’ll be extra damned … anything to avoid Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler movie, or a set — you count me in.”

The theory was only suggested because Kelce wore a “Happy Gilmore” hat on the podcast after the sequel was officially announced.

Kelce has stayed busy in the offseason following the Chiefs’ fourth Super Bowl victory in February. He joined the cast of the FX horror series “Grotesquerie”; hosted “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”, an Amazon Prime game show; hung out at the White House with President Joe Biden; received a degree from the University of Cincinnati; signed a new deal with the Chiefs; joined girlfriend Taylor Swift on her European tour; and is reportedly in talks to star in the action-comedy “Loose Cannons,” which will be produced by “John Wick” series director Chad Stahelski.

Although his life off the football field is getting busier, Kelce, 35, has no plans to retire from soccer.

“I love coming to work every day and doing this,” Kelce said in June. “I’m going to keep doing this until the wheels fall off, and hopefully that won’t happen anytime soon.”
