Train crash in Mid Wales: Line reopens a week after fatal accident

The railway line where one man died and four people were seriously injured in an accident will reopen a week after the fatal accident.

Passenger Tudor Evans, 66, from Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, died after the train he was on struck another train on the Cambrian line near Llanbrynmair, Powys, on Monday.

According to the Rail Accident Investigations Branch, four people were seriously injured in the crash nearby and a further 11 people required hospital treatment.

Investigations at the site have now been completed and Transport for Wales (TfW) is in the process of removing the two trains, while Network Rail said it had carried out “thorough checks and safety inspections” ahead of the line’s reopening on Monday.
