Tracking the Pittsburgh Steelers trade rumors ahead of the deadline on Tuesday

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quest to add an upgrade at wide receiver continues. After failing to land San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during the offseason, the team also struck out on veteran wide receiver Davante Adams last month.

The Steelers saw a clear upgrade in the passing game when they inserted Russell Wilson into the lineup over Justin Fields, but if Pittsburgh really wants to reach its ceiling, the team needs to give Wilson and No. 1 wide receiver George Pickens some help.

But general manager Omar Khan is running out of time to bring in reinforcements as the deadline falls on Tuesday, November 5 at 4:00 PM ET. And the options have already narrowed, and that will only get worse the longer Khan waits.

With the trade deadline just around the corner, we’re following all the latest trade rumors involving the Steelers. The latest updates will be posted at the top of the section below.

Pittsburgh Steelers exchange rumors

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers are calling about “all” wide receivers available, but he specifically mentions two names: Adam Thielen of the Carolina Panthers and Mike Williams of the New York Jets.

“The Steelers made a call ahead of Tuesday’s 4:00 PM ET trade deadline and checked all available wide receivers, including the Jets’ Mike Williams and the Panthers’ Adam Thielen, according to league sources,” he wrote. “The Steelers will continue to push in an effort to improve before the deadline, but they are far from the only team looking to better position themselves for the second half of the season.”

While this doesn’t matter much now, Schefter adds that the Steelers had a deal in place for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk before he suffered a broken collarbone at the end of the season. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network echoes that report.

The Steelers have previously been linked to Williams in a rumor, with the previous report stating that the Steelers and Jets were in discussions about the veteran wide receiver, but they paused prior to their Week 7 matchup.

Thielen is definitely a new name when it comes to players linked to the Steelers through rumors.

The 34-year-old is currently working on his return from a stint on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. His 21-day window opened on October 23, so he has time to be activated. Thielen has logged two limited practice sessions this week, so it appears he’s getting closer.
