Tony Vitello bonus for Tennessee Baseball College World Series title

OMAHA, Neb. – Tony Vitello earned a $140,000 bonus for leading Tennessee baseball to the program’s first national championship.

Vitello’s contract stipulates that he will receive 40% of his base salary as a bonus for winning the College World Series. The seventh-year coach has a base salary of $350,000, which is part of his $1.5 million annual salary.

He earned the bonus after the Vols captured the program’s first national title Monday with a 6-5 win against Texas A&M at Charles Schwab Field.

The contract gives Vitello one bonus per year, based on the team’s highest achievement, which is winning the CWS. He did not receive a bonus for winning the SEC regular season title or the SEC tournament title.

UT must pay the bonus to Vitello within 60 days.

What is Tony Vitello’s salary and contract?

Vitello agreed to a contract extension and increase in June 2021 that will pay him $1.5 million annually before incentives through June 2026. The contract is worth $7.5 million over five years.

Vitello, 45, received an extension and raise worth an average of $621,000 in pre-incentives per season after the 2019 season. That deal was worth $3.105 million (excluding incentives) and would have run through the 2024 season.

His original contract was a five-year deal with an annual average compensation of $493,000.
